New land added to the JHS vegetable garden
Monday, June 13, 2011
A few months ago, German foundation Hilfe für
Kinder in Kambodscha, the sponsor of Angkor Thom Junior High
School, purchased a piece of land (60m X 85m) to be added to the
existing vegetable garden. The land will be used to plant fruit
trees and vegetables. It will help to reduce the cost of food for
the students (they are provided with free breakfast and lunch),
improve their diet and also provide them with some agricultural
skills.
A pond has been made to provide the garden with water and on 6-11 June, the staff received a training on the methods of organic farming and biodynamic agriculture from a foreign specialist.
